Mumbai, July 21 (PTI) Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) plans to add Punjab and Gujarat to its road show destinations next year in a bid to woo tourists from these regions, an official said today. "We still need to add some more areas. We plan to add Punjab in the north and Gujarat in the west as a part of next year''s road shows in India," JTB''s India representative Ashish Sharma told PTI here. JBT, which entered the Indian market in 2009, has been conducting road shows in five cities, Sharma said. "This year, we added two more cities -- Kolkata and Goa -- to reach out to a wider range of tourists," he noted, adding that the focus is currently on getting into newer markets across the country. Sounding bullish on tourist traffic growth from India this year, Sharma said that Jordan was expecting a higher number on the back of these road shows as well as a liberal visa regime. "We have registered a 92 per cent increase in the number of tourists from India in the first five months of this year over the previous year," Sharma said. In the 2009 calender year, around 29,000 Indian tourists visited Jordan, whereas by May this year, the Middle-Eastern country received over 20,000 tourists from India, he said. (MORE) PTI IAS JJ.
